Wearlon® Super F-1 Icephobic
Wearlon Super F-1 evolved from a joint testing program with BF Goodrich in their climate- controlled environmental testing laboratory. The objective was to eliminate the need of sacrificial coatings such as greases and oils, etc. for ice control. Ice adhesion to cold rolled steel in aluminum is generally in the range of 200 lbs/in2. After painting the metal with conventional polyurethane or alkyd paints, the ice adhesion was in the range of 150 lbs/in2. Ice adhesion to a sacrificial coating, ICE-X, was recorded as 8-10 lb/ in2. Ice adhesion to a non-sacrificial Wearlon Super F-1 coating was in the range of 15-20 lb/ in2. Typical Applications of Wearlon Super F-1:
